    charlie drew a picture today,
    he said it was of me.
    i noticed how proud he looked
    as he traced it lovingly.
    the lines were all a jumble
    sketched by a child's hand.
    they met in odd, off places,
    but they might have made a man.
    how crudely drawn this picture was,
    how amateur the art!
    but, i could not have been happier
    with my son's artistic start.
